Received the “Super-Visor” a week or two back and wanted to thank you. I grew up with proper visors on “dirt” helmets and assumed something similar could coexist with faceshields on “street” helmets but never saw anything workable until recently.
Safety and comfort advantages are clearly with the Super-Visor. Besides shielding the eyes and shadowing the faceshield to reduce scatter and haze, the shading of the rider’s face reduces internal reflections (of the face) from the inside of the faceshield. End result is much higher contrast and better vision.

The Problem: Poor vision when riding into the sun when it’s close to the horizon. Direct sunlight on the Lexan shield and on my glasses causes dazzle, greatly reducing vision. I would often find myself either riding one-handed, shading my eyes in order to see, or changing from clear face shield to smoked, which offered less glare but just as much dazzle.
The Solution: When I bought my last Arai helmet I wanted some form of visor to shade both my face shield and my glasses, and found nothing suitable. I saw an ad in Touring News for Super-Visor and ordered one at $16.95.

The visor is well engineered and well made. It attaches to the top edge of the flip-up shield, and the curvature fits the Arai shield very well. Attachment method depends on the vertical position of the visor. In its lowest position, the visor is attached directly and permanently to the shield. This position suits my line of sight in the Shrike, with its reclined driving position, and that’s what I used. If the rider’s helmet is tilted further forward when riding, as it would be when sitting upright, then the visor would be mounted higher on the shield. For either of the two higher mounting positions, adapter clips are mounted permanently to the shield and snap on to the removable visor.

Installation of the visor was fairly straightforward, taking perhaps 20 minutes. Double-sided foam tape is used. Once the attachment method is selected, the position of the four tape strips is marked on the shield and visor, and the surfaces are scuffed with the emery board provided. This removes any anti-abrasion coatings or cleaners and provides a rough surface. It took a few minutes of sanding to remove some high spots on the visor mounting surface. A small bottle of 3M primer is provided to further etch the surface of the shield and visor to assure maximum bond strength.

Once both surfaces are properly prepared, the four pre-cut pieces of tape are pressed onto the shield, and the visor is carefully pressed into place and held for five minutes. The helmet is ready to use after 24 hours.
Does it Work? Yes! I am delighted to find that the visor is long enough and positioned well to shade my shield and glasses when riding into the sun. I now use a clear shield almost all the time, with increased comfort, less fatigue, and greater safety. The visor is vented in the middle to reduce wind resistance, and (at least in the Shrike) does not produce objectionable forces at high speeds.
Downside: The visor partly covers the openings where the two movable vents at the top of the Arai visor are. The vents had to be removed (they pop right out), leaving a larger opening than the original vents did. This provides increased airflow over the inside surface of the shield, reducing fogging. I rode in a light rain, and didn’t have a problem with rain on my glasses. The visor naturally reduces the field of vision upward (as at a traffic signal), but raising the shield removes it from sight.

Bottom Line: A fine product, I recommend it and will move it to my next helmet as well.

Comments: Excellent product. I can see a huge reduction in eye strain - not just from shading of direct glare but also in eliminating the ambient brightness of the sky from the top third of my vision. This will greatly reduce eye fatigue on long rides.

After four years of riding Hwy 190 from Porterville to Ponderosa in the morning; sun, shade, sun, shade, etc. I decided to do something about it. I had seen an ad for some sort of sun shade on the back pages of the various motorcycle magazines. The company is SUPER-VISOR. Their product attaches to all full face and open face visors. It is height adjustable and removable. I have never been so immediately pleased with anything! It blocks all the glare, all day. My eyes are much more comfortable. And, consequently, my riding is much more comfortable! I highly recommend this product!

Switched it to a new helmet and it still worked great!Then I dropped my helmet and the Super-Visor broke in 4 places------but it saved my visor from damage.

I had been riding since I was eighteen. When I reached 60 my wife and friends persuaded me I was too old to be riding motorcycles. Well, at age 66, I decided they were wrong.
While gathering equipment, I purchased a HJC helmet (CS-R1). I immediately had problems with sun glare. Riding with the face shield up, even at speeds as low as 10-15 MPH, it made a shrill whistle. The whistle increased in intensity as I accelerated to the point of distraction. I was very disappointed until I installed the SUPER-VISOR. The sun was no longer a problem and not only was the whistle gone, but the wind noise was greatly reduced. It has made my low priced helmet as comfortable and quiet as my higher priced helmets.
The Super-visor is the best thing that's come along in 48 years and I aught to know. Ray Anderson.

Hello on this snowy day. One of the best motorcycling products I have ever bought is Super-Visor. When I started riding several years ago I was having a lot of trouble keeping my head up while riding into the sun. The Super-Visor attached to the face shield on my helmet and helps me keep my eyes focused as far down the road as I can see. I ride into the sun every morning on the way home from work, and I have to say the Super-Visor is a real life saver.

This is the best product I have found for riding! My riding groups tend to always ride East on their day rides, so I would wind up looking directly into the sun on the way home. It was pure misery. I tried sunglasses but they didn't work well enough for me. I had seen Super-Visor online but attended a rally where a vendor had them on hand. I checked the fit against the face shield of my helmet and it looked like it would work. I bought the black one and affixed it directly to the shield.
Riding home from the rally was like day and night. It was SO nice not having to crane my neck one way or the other or do the 'left-hand salute' to block the sun as I rode home. The Super-Visor doesn't rattle around or vibrate either as there are areas between the shield and the Super-Visor that allows the wind to pass freely.
I have been riding for over 20 years and I would recommend this product to anyone.

A 65-year-old man apparently blinded by the sun was killed last night after he fell off his motorcycle and was struck by a car, Nassau police said. The accident happened in Jericho around 5:45 p.m. near Exit 41 of the Long Island Expressway. The motorcyclist, whose name was not released, was on his Harley-Davidson in the middle lane, lost control "and was ejected" into the right lane, said Adele Burke of the Nassau County Police Department. A westbound Honda Accord ran him over moments later. "Sun glare appears to have been a contributing factor," Burke said.

First of all, let me review your product. I purchased a Super-Visor approximately 3 months ago and being a perfectionist, wanted to perfectly place the lifters on the faceshield. I think I succeeded because I have excellent view when needed in the middle of the day, but most importantly, a ready safeguard against the brutal morning sun on my work commute. There is absolutely NO additional wind noise or helmet buffeting, which I find surprising due to the protrusion the visor makes. But I mean it - NO extra wind noise or buffeting. Thanks for making a GREAT product.

It's not often [in fact never] that I write a message praising a product, but here it is - I've been looking for something to glue on to my face shield (full face helmet) for a long time, and was just about to epoxy a snap-on visor from a regular helmet when my neighbor (and motorcycle rider of many years) told me about the Super Visor - I sent off for a white one and rode purposely right into the setting sun - perfect!
No need to hold my left hand up to block the sun from my face shield (which goes absolutely opaque when the sun hits it) and looks to the casual observer that the visor is an integral part of the helmet (HJC). I just placed an order for a black visor for my other helmet.

The 'Super'Visor' hath arrived this day at Maine. I have just put it on the helmet, and my wife is out trying it out. The mounting is well thought out, and easy, tho I should have brought my watch from my pocket first(I do not wear wristwatches)to time the glue sett.(NOTE, THAT'S PRIMER NOT GLUE) The instructions are well done and easy to follow. I have had a Super Visor for several years. This year, on a second Alaska/Canada trip, I took a spill on the Dalton Hway, about 100 miles south of Deadhorse. In the subsequent thrash in getting the bike back on its wheels and underway, I lost the visor, and I have been truly impaired ever since. This is something I never want to be without again. I wear it all the time, even on cloudy days, and find it excellent for keeping out glare. This is a fine product. I previously sent in an endorsment of it.

Just wanted to offer my congratulations on a superb and innovative product.
I have fitted the Super Visor to my AGV helmet and it works exactly as advertised.
No additional noise, no additional lift, just superb functionality.
Riding my unfaired trail bike, a Suzuki DR650, I have ridden at 80 mph and have been able to turn or tilt my head in any direction without any adverse effects at all.
During winter here Down Under, the sun is low for much of the day, and your product makes riding so much more comfortable.
Thanks for the product, I can't commend it enough.
Incidentally, I am writing a product review on the Super Visor and hope to have it published in a local motorcycle magazine so others can know of this great accessory. I'll let you know if it gets published.

Hi all,
I wear prescription glasses/sunglasses I’m having problems with glare on my helmet face shield. Is there anything out there to cut down glare? My glasses are all anti-glare and I’m wondering if there is some way to get the shield anti-glare as well? This has really been bothering me as I feel it cuts down my visibility and it’s distracting. I’ve talked to a couple of people at bike shops in the area, but no solution yet. It’s even worse with my sunglasses… I can see a rainbow looking pattern on the shield and with my sunglasses it’s a lot worse. I haven't tried a light smoke color face shield yet, but I'm thinking of trying that and just wearing my regular glasses.
Any suggestions?

Cash and I both added this simple product to our full-face helmets and have taken a 2,650 mile trip with them on (in heavy rain and glaring sunlight) - I found it to be so satisfactory that I did not once resort to putting my dark glasses on during the trip.
No weight issue, no noise issue, no wind drag issue - and easy to mount. I put them on permanently but you can, if you want, put them on with disconnect clips to make them temporary.

+1 for the Super Visor. I have not used sunglasses once since installing mine. Can't recommend it enough (possibly to the chagrin of readers of this forum, who probably think I'm beginning to sound like a broken record on the subject).

I have installed and used a Super-Visor on my Shoei for a couple of years. I wouldn't be without it. It doesn't introduce any turbulence that I can detect, but is a life-saver when running directly into a low sun, or even at mid-day to keep the hot sun off your face through the plastic and to reduce reflection from your face back onto the inside of the shield. It's absolutely one of the best bang-for-the-buck things I have ever used.

Well, I decided to stop waiting for reports from others and bought a Super-Visor. After just one ride with it, I can honestly say that this ranks up there as one of the best four or five riding accessories I've ever bought. There's a spot on my way to work where I absolutely have to put my hand up to shield my eyes or I'm just about completely blinded on a sunny day. Not any more. This morning on my way to work there wasn't a cloud in the sky and the sun was shining brightly; no problem. This Super-Visor thing works great. Took maybe 10 minutes to install, and the instructions recommend you let the glue cure for a couple days. I mounted it in it's lowest position, which makes it unremovable, but you can also use the clips that come with the visor and allow you to take the visor off your face shield if you don't want it on for any reason.
Bottom line: I would HIGHLY recommend Super-Visor for anyone who has difficulty with riding into the sun.

I wanted to write and let you all know your product has so far lived up to its advertising. I am overwhelmed by the difference I now experience when I ride my BMW down the highway facing the sun. In the past, my sunglasses would not even overcome the glare. Now, with the Supervisor installed, I can travel directly into the sun. I recommend this product to anyone frustrated by the sun hitting their faceshield and blinding them. I am now a safer rider and am experiencing less fatigue.

Super-Visor: Riding into a low sun every day can drive you crazy because (unless your shield is brand new and perfect) ordinary dust and nano-scratches catching the light can be absolutely blinding. And unsafe as hell. This solution works splendidly, and once you get used to it, doesn’t look that bad, either. The visor is aerodynamically engineered and fits all shields. Perfect vision and less eye fatigue is only a slight head tilt away. (Mr. Subjective note: My friend John Chase of ‘Chase Harper’ made one of these for himself from a vented dirt bike visor fifteen years ago. He has sworn by it ever since. It is really great to see this independently developed one become available.) Never be blinded by the sun again.
